When I started this blog, I wanted to always write something nice about India, and how India is on the fast track to becoming a super power. I will also write about India becoming a super power, but for the present, I want to write about Doordarshan and its miserable telecast of the greatest sporting spectacle of this year. All in all, the telecast was terrible.! The commentary was bad, with non-Hindi viewers really getting mad when the commentary is suddenly switched over to Hindi. I have also noticed that just when things get going in whatever game we are watching, the camera switches over to the studio where we are forced to again watch the aging commentators chatting away aimlessly about nothing in particular.
A small request to the Government! In the future, please buy some syndicated program from some channel to show on Doordarshan. At least the telecast and the commentary will be watchable., and we can enjoy watching it on TV.
It is the same story with Neo Sports and cricket. Just compare the quality with Star Sports and ESPN, you will understand what I mean! I hope Doordarshan understands that it is just not up to the mark when it comes to sports commentary and telecasting some sporting spectacle, and spare us the agony by avoiding it in future.
